The Foxwell NT301 is a fault code reader designed for reading and clearing generic fault codes (DTCs) via the OBD2/EOBD port of a vehicle. This device features a 2.8-inch TFT color screen and is powered directly through the diagnostic port, requiring no external batteries for operation. The housing is designed for use in a workshop environment.
The special I/M shortcut key provides direct access to the emission status, simplifying preparation for an MOT inspection. Visual and auditory indicators, such as built-in LEDs and speaker, provide a quick indication of system status. Furthermore, the NT301 supports displaying, recording, and playing back live sensor data and freeze frame data. The reader's software can be updated via the included USB cable.
Application and functionality:
The NT301 is a plug-and-play fault code reader that communicates with the engine control unit (ECU) to diagnose engine faults and check the emission status of a wide range of vehicles compliant with the OBD2/EOBD standard.
- Read and clear fault codes: Reads and clears generic (P0, P2, P3, U0), manufacturer-specific (P1, P3, U1) codes and pending codes. Turns off the 'Check Engine' light (MIL).
- Live data: Shows a continuous data stream from vehicle sensors in both text and graph format (PCM data stream).
- I/M Readiness: Checks the status of emission-related systems with one button press to determine if the vehicle is ready for an emissions test (MOT).
- Freeze frame data: Displays a snapshot of the vehicle's operating conditions at the time an emission-related fault occurred.
- Vehicle information: Retrieves the vehicle identification number (VIN), calibration ID (CID), and calibration verification number (CVN).
- O2 sensor test: Reads the test results of the O2 sensor monitor to check performance.
- On-Board Monitor Test (Mode 6): Retrieves test results for specific monitored systems that are not continuously monitored.
- DTC library: Built-in search function to look up the meaning of fault codes.
- Data recording and playback: Ability to save diagnostic data and live data for later analysis.
- Printing: Data can be printed via a computer.
