Mercedes (W212) EIS/ELV – 16-pins OBD2 Adapter Cable | Passenger Car
The Adapter Cable is designed for directly connecting diagnostic and programming equipment to the Electronic Ignition Switch (EIS) and Electronic Steering Lock (ELV) modules of various Mercedes-Benz models. This cable bridges the specific module connections to a standardized 16-pin OBD2 female connector, enabling communication with the modules outside the vehicle. The cable is equipped with the necessary connectors for both the EIS and the ELV.
Thanks to a separate DC power connection, the EIS and ELV modules can be powered on the workbench. This makes it possible to perform functions such as reading module data, programming keys, renewing used modules, or performing a function test without the modules needing to be installed in the vehicle. This process is also called "bench testing."
Application and functionality:
This test cable is used to establish a direct connection with the control units of the starting system, allowing various programming and diagnostic operations to be performed on the workbench.
- Bench diagnosis: Allows reading, analyzing, and clearing fault codes from the EIS and ELV modules without the modules being installed in the car.
- Key programming: Facilitates direct reading of data from the EIS, which is necessary for calculating and adding new car keys.
- Module renewal and adjustment: Supports the process of 'virginizing' (restoring to factory settings) used EIS or ELV modules so they can be installed and coded in another vehicle.
- Data recovery and cloning: Enables the user to read data from a defective module and transfer it to a replacement module.
