The Autool SVB308 is an inspection camera. It features a 6.2 mm camera head controlled by a joystick that steers four ways, 360 degrees around, with a bending radius of 35 mm. You insert the probe just once and then look around, rather than withdrawing it to change angle.
What sets this model apart is the detachable display: the 4.3 inch screen disconnects from the handset and sits on steel using a magnetic foot, so you can watch where you need to while keeping your hands on the probe. Recording available in 640 × 480, 1280 × 720 or 1920 × 1080, with date stamp.

POINTS TO NOTE
✕The probe alone is waterproof. The handset with display is not.
✕The probe is 1 metre long. For long pipes or a deep hollow section, this may be too short.
✕No zoom and no measurement function. The crosshairs on screen are a reference line, not a measurement tool.
✕Do not use probe above 70 degrees. A hot engine must cool first.
Application and functionality
With a fixed head, the direction you insert the probe determines what you see; to change angle you must withdraw and reinsert it. A four-way steerable head eliminates that: once inside you direct the camera where you want. The detachable display solves the second problem, which is that viewing and working rarely happen in the same location.
The Autool SVB308 supports the following image and control functions:
- Camera head steering: Four directions, 360 degrees round, via joystick; bending radius 35 millimetres.
- Adjustable recording resolution: 640 by 480, 1280 by 720 or 1920 by 1080.
- Photo and video: JPG for photos, AVI for video, with date stamp.

- Lighting: Six LEDs in the head, three brightness levels plus off.
- Adjustable auto-off: Can be disabled or set to three, five or ten minutes.
- Memory card storage: A memory card is supplied.
How to use it
- Charge the unit: Via the USB-C port at 5 volts.
- Insert the memory card: In the slot on the handset.
- Switch on and detach the display: Set it down where you can see it; the magnetic foot keeps it secure on steel.
- Insert the probe and steer with the joystick: Four directions, 360 degrees round.
- Choose resolution and record: Photos as JPG, video as AVI, with date stamp.
Special features and capabilities
The separation between screen and handset is what distinguishes this model; beyond that, there are limits to what the unit does not do.
- Display positioned independently: At eye level or where you need to see it, whilst your hands stay with the probe.
- Magnetic foot: The screen sits on steel without requiring you to hold it.
- Stream image to a PC: Via the data cable; the unit has no wireless connection.
- Menu in ten languages: English, German, French, Spanish, Italian and Russian are included; Dutch is not.
Where to use it
The unit is designed for inspections where you look around rather than examine one point, and where viewing the screen does not coincide with where your hands are positioned.
- Combustion chamber: Look around through the spark plug hole without withdrawing the probe.
- Air conditioning evaporator: Behind the dashboard, with the screen positioned within reach.
- Hollow beams and sills: Where you need to direct the head after insertion.
- Work under the vehicle: The screen on the ramp, the handset in the wheel arch.

Worth knowing: Position the screen before you insert the probe and check where you have a good view. Detaching it halfway costs you the head position you just found.
