The Autool SPT105 spark plug tester is a stationary diagnostic device designed for detailed inspection of loose spark plugs outside the vehicle. Within the ignition system, this instrument offers the ability to assess spark plug performance by electronically simulating engine operation. The device focuses specifically on visual and functional inspection of the ignition spark, which is essential when diagnosing misfires, weak spark generation, or incomplete combustion in 12V petrol engines.
During the diagnostic procedure, the spark plug is placed in the device, allowing it to be tested completely independently of the vehicle's own ignition coil and wiring. This enables the technician to directly observe the spark strength and discharge stability through the transparent shield. The left test port features an adjustable socket with height adjustment with a range of 8 millimeters, which correctly positions even spark plugs with non-standard or extended threads. The integrated pulse generator delivers an adjustable test signal, allowing the load on the electrode to be precisely simulated at various engine speeds.

- RPM simulation: Using the rotary switch on the control panel, the frequency of the ignition pulse is adjusted continuously. This enables the technician to simulate engine speeds from 0 to 6000 revolutions per minute to identify misfires, flashover, or ignition failure under higher engine loads.
- Visual spark assessment: Through the transparent cover, the color, thickness, and consistency of the spark can be evaluated, revealing insulation damage, fouling, or excessive electrode gap.

- Integrated safety shield: Above the test ports, a hinged transparent plastic cover is mounted. This must be closed during operation and prevents exposure to high voltage, while the spark discharge remains clearly visible for inspection.
