The Autel MaxiIM IM508 update licence extends your entitlement to software updates for the IM508 for one year. What the IM508 can do is determined by its software, not its hardware. The device is the entry-level model in the key and immobiliser range, offering diagnostics for more than eighty vehicle makes. It reads PIN codes, even when all keys are lost, generates and programmes keys, and performs EEPROM and MCU operations, with the XP200 as the standard programmer. A renewal gives you a year's access to all new versions released during that period.

The licence is tied to the serial number of your IM508, not to an account or code; we establish that link for you, usually within one working day. A renewal primarily supplements the key and immobiliser files, alongside the vehicle coverage and reset functions. When the term expires, nothing changes on what is already installed on the device, but new software will no longer be added.

Applications and functionality

Three elements on the IM508 depend on the licence. The vehicle coverage determines which vehicles the device recognises, the function files determine what it can do with them, and the online services deliver what comes from external sources.

What a renewal provides you

  • New vehicle coverage: Brands, models and model years added after your last update become available within the existing diagnostic functions.
  • Expanded service functions: Procedures such as electronic parking brake, DPF regeneration, steering angle sensor, oil service and battery management continue to support newer vehicles as manufacturers modify their systems.
  • Key and immobiliser files: The file containing key, transponder and immobiliser procedures grows alongside newer systems.

What happens without renewal

  • New versions: Nothing further is added, including no corrections to software already installed.
  • Online services: Services running through manufacturer servers may become limited or unavailable after expiry.
  • No loss of functionality: What you do with the IM508 today, you can still do after the licence expires.
