The Launch CRP909X update license is a digital authorization that expands and keeps the diagnostic scanner's software coverage current. The license is valid for 1 year from activation and provides access during this period to new vehicle models, additional system support, and enhanced diagnostic functions released by Launch. For a technician, this means the device grows alongside newer model years and recent vehicles can be reliably scanned without needing a new unit.
Activation is completed using an update card with a 12-character activation code. The user logs into the corresponding Launch software on the CRP909X and enters the code manually via the update or license menu. Once entered, available updates are unlocked and can be downloaded and installed through the standard update function. When the 1-year license period expires, the already-installed software continues to work on the device, but access to new updates and expansions is blocked. To continue receiving updates, a renewal is necessary.

Serial number information
To register and link your license to your scanner, you may need the serial number of your CRP909X. You can find this number in several locations.
- Back of the device: The serial number is printed on the sticker on the back of your CRP909X.
- Software information menu: You can also view the serial number digitally through the settings or system information menu on your CRP909X.
- Startup screen: When starting up the device, the serial number is briefly displayed on some versions.
