The OBDSTAR RT100 is a compact tester that allows you to check both the transmission frequency of car keys and the operation of infrared (IR) signals. The device is designed for key programming and automotive maintenance, and gives technicians quick insight into whether a remote control actually transmits a signal and at what frequency. The RT100 detects the frequency bands 300-320 MHz, 434 MHz and 868 MHz, which are commonly used in vehicle remote controls.
The tester is operated via an on/off button and displays results on an indicator display. To test the frequency, hold the remote control close to the device, then press a button on the remote to light up the corresponding frequency indicator. For the infrared test, the IR indicator lights up when the key transmits a valid infrared signal; if the indicator stays off, the infrared function of the remote control is not working properly.

The OBDSTAR RT100 supports the following remote control testing functions:
- Frequency Test 300-320 MHz: The corresponding indicator light illuminates when a key transmits in this band, allowing you to quickly determine whether the remote control is operating in the low frequency range.
- 434 MHz Frequency Test: Detects signals at 434 MHz, a common frequency used in European car key remotes, confirming the transmitter function of your key.
- 868 MHz Frequency Test: Detects signals at 868 MHz, indicating whether the key transmits correctly in the higher European frequency band.
- Infrared (IR) test: Checks whether the infrared component of a key is active; if the IR indicator lights up after pressing the button, the IR signal is functioning correctly.
