The license is valid for 1 year, during which the user can download and install unlimited updates on the paired device. The purpose of the license is to keep the diagnostic scanner current with new vehicle models, updated protocols and enhanced diagnostic routines, so that technicians can perform reliable measurements and controls on recently introduced vehicles.

Activation is done via a 12-digit activation code which becomes available digitally after purchase. The user logs into the corresponding Launch software or app on the diagnostic scanner and enters the code manually through the update or license menu. After successful entry, the updates become visible and can be installed via the standard update function. Once the 1-year license period expires, the already installed software continues to function on the device, but access to new software updates and additional vehicle coverage is blocked. A renewal is then required to receive updates again.
