The Jaltest JDC303A is the diagnostic cable that connects the 3+6-pin connector from ZF to your Jaltest Link. This connector is part of the ZF control unit itself, is not located at the vehicle's standard OBD port, and operates independently from standard vehicle diagnostics. On the interface side, the cable routes it to the 16-pin OBD2 of your Jaltest diagnostic cable. This makes the cable system-specific, not brand-specific: what matters is the ZF control unit installed in the vehicle, not the chassis manufacturer.
Behind this single connector lie the ZF units that Jaltest brings together in the coverage group ZF Transmissions: the bus automatics Ecomat 1, Ecomat 2/4 and EcoLife, the automated gearboxes AS Tronic, AS Tronic Lite, EcoTronic, PowerLine, TraXon and AVS, and the retarders EST-32, EST-42 and Intarder 3. The feature set varies by gearbox: parameters are covered for Ecomat 2/4, but not for Ecomat 1 and EcoLife. Because the ZF connector operates independently from vehicle diagnostics, it remains in use even if the vehicle already has a 16-pin OBD connector. The cable falls under Jaltest CV (commercial vehicles).

Applications and Functionality
Through this connection, you access the ZF control unit equipped with the 3+6-pin connector using Jaltest software. Jaltest groups ZF systems together in the ZF Transmissions coverage group.
Control units you can access
- Ecomat 1, Automatic gearbox: The first generation ZF bus automatic transmission.
- Ecomat 2/4, Automatic gearbox: The successors, with parameters included in coverage.
- EcoLife, Automatic transmission: The six-speed bus automatic that followed Ecomat.
- AS Tronic and AS Tronic Lite: The automated manual transmissions; AS Tronic Lite also includes calibration and reset in coverage.
- EcoTronic, PowerLine, TraXon and AVS: The other ZF transmissions in the same coverage group.
- Retarders EST-32, EST-42 and Intarder 3 (EST-52/EST-54): ZF's auxiliary brakes, with serial number and software version of the unit.
What you can do
- Read and clear fault codes: Read the fault memory of the ZF control unit and clear it after repair.
- View live data: Current sensor values from the transmission or retarder, with graph display.
- Actuate components: Component actuation is included for Ecomat 1, Ecomat 2/4, AS Tronic, TraXon and the retarders.
- Set parameters: Available for Ecomat 2/4 and AS Tronic Lite, among others.
- Calibration and reset: Jaltest offers calibration and reset procedures for AS Tronic Lite and TraXon.
Compatible vehicles and applications
The connector determines compatibility, not the vehicle brand. This cable fits any ZF transmission and ZF retarder with the 3+6-pin ZF diagnostic connector. Because the system—not the chassis manufacturer—determines compatibility, the cable is widely applicable; you can verify which connector is on your control unit on-site.
