The Autool SDT205S smoke tester generates thick diagnostic smoke through oxygen-lean combustion of a specialized test fluid. The device features a built-in air compressor, allowing it to operate independently of an external compressed air source. The machine delivers consistent working pressure up to 15 psi, approximately 1 bar, and draws power directly from a 12V DC supply via the vehicle's battery. This leak detector is purpose-built for low-pressure leak detection and is versatile for identifying vacuum and air pressure loss in components such as EVAP systems, crankcase ventilation, and intake manifolds.
During the diagnostic procedure, smoke injection occurs by filling the sealed vehicle system via the supplied adapters. The technician can regulate flow rate using the continuously adjustable flowmeter, while the analog pressure gauge enables precise pressure control and pressure drop monitoring. Once the circuit is saturated, escaping smoke provides clear leak visualization, even for hairline cracks or porous seals. Thanks to separate controls for air pressure only or smoke generation, the technician can build the test process step-by-step, preventing unnecessary fluid consumption and accelerating diagnosis.

- Smoke test: Engages the heating element to vaporize test oil into a dense mist. This smoke is injected into the sealed circuit to visually pinpoint the exact source of a leak.
- Flow control: A rotary knob beneath the glass flow tube lets you manually adjust air or smoke flow up to a maximum of 6 liters per minute, protecting sensitive components or controlling buildup.
- Analog pressure monitoring: The integrated gauge displays pressure in MPa, bar, and psi, showing real-time readings within the test system. A dropping needle with no flow indicates a system leak.
