The Autool inflatable sealing kit is an accessory used in combination with smoke leak detectors to perform leak detection testing. The set is designed to quickly and effectively seal the intake and exhaust systems of vehicles. It consists of an inflatable bladder with a smoke passage and a hand pump. By inflating the bladder, it conforms to the opening and creates an airtight seal, which makes leak testing possible.

The inflatable mechanism adapts to various shapes and diameters of openings, making it a universal solution for most passenger cars and light commercial vehicles. The construction includes an integrated pressure relief valve that automatically opens under excess pressure to protect components. Via the smoke passage, smoke from a leak detection machine can be directed directly into the sealed system for accurate analysis.

KEY BENEFITS

Universal sealing — Fits openings from 3 to 20 cm, eliminating the need for a whole set of separate adapters.
Integrated pressure relief valve — Opens automatically under excess pressure, protecting both the bladder and vehicle components.
Smoke passage — Smoke is directed through the seal directly into the sealed system.
Conforms to shape — Seals oval and irregular openings where a fixed cone adapter won't fit.

IMPORTANT NOTES

Smoke tester not included — This is an accessory for use with an existing smoke machine.
Manual inflation — The bladder is sized using the included hand pump; this requires manual operation for each test.
Diameter range 3 to 20 cm — Designed for passenger cars and light commercial vehicles; larger intake openings on heavy equipment are outside this range.

Application and functionality

This sealing kit is used to prepare systems for leak testing with a smoke machine.

  • Sealing intake systems: Close off the air intake downstream of the mass airflow sensor or throttle body housing to test for vacuum leaks.
  • Sealing exhaust systems: Block the exhaust pipe to inspect the entire exhaust system for leaks.
  • Universal application: Fits round, oval and rectangular openings without additional adapters.

Package contents

  • 1x Autool inflatable sealing plug with smoke passage
  • 1x Hand pump
💡
Good to know: Insert the bladder fully into the opening before you start inflating. If part of it still sticks out, the seal will be pushed outward as pressure builds and a leak will form around the edge. Don't pump harder than necessary to achieve a tight seal; the relief valve protects against overpressure, but an over-inflated bladder wears faster at the edges.
