The OBDSTAR Nissan/Renault 16+32-pin SGW adapter cable is a specific adapter cable that combines a 16-pin OBD2 connector with a split connection to both a 16-pin and a 32-pin connector. The cable is designed to provide access to the Security Gateway (SGW) present in certain Nissan and Renault models and is exclusively used in combination with OBDSTAR diagnostic devices or programmers. Its application targets vehicles where the gateway restricts direct communication between diagnostic hardware and vehicle electronics.

The adapter cable allows bypassing the SGW by simultaneously connecting to the vehicle’s OBD2 port and the 32-pin gateway connector through the split connection. This enables the OBDSTAR device to perform secured functions such as key programming, adding keys when all keys are lost, and ECU programming, which are otherwise blocked by the gateway without this cable. The cable acts as a physical bridge between the diagnostic hardware and the vehicle electronics behind the gateway.
