The Jaltest OBD401 is the adapter cable connecting the 38-pin OBD1 diagnostic connector on the Iveco Daily to the 16-pin OBD2 port of your Jaltest diagnostic cable. On the vehicle side, you'll find the wide 38-pin connector that Iveco installed on pre-OBD2 Daily models in the dashboard on the passenger side, behind the plastic panel; on the interface side sits the 16-pin OBD2 plug.

This cable routes the Daily's communication lines through to the Jaltest Link, establishing direct communication with the vehicle's control units. This gives your diagnostic equipment access to the braking system ABS 5.3, the system that Jaltest covers on the Turbodaily generation; comprehensive engine diagnostics are not included for this generation. For diesel vans, the 16-pin EOBD connector only became mandatory from January 1, 2004 onwards, so if you have a Daily from after that date, you won't need this adapter. The cable falls under Jaltest CV (commercial vehicles).

KEY BENEFITS

Access to the 38-pin Daily connector: The way to connect your Jaltest Link to this manufacturer-specific port.
Provides access to the braking system ABS 5.3, the system that Jaltest covers on the Turbodaily generation.
On available systems, you work with the full CV feature set: fault codes, live data, component activation, parameters and resets.
Keeps older Daily vans in your workshop workflow using the same interface as the rest of your fleet.

IMPORTANT NOTES

On the Turbodaily generation, coverage is limited: Jaltest covers the ABS 5.3 braking system only, not comprehensive engine diagnostics.
Only for the 38-pin OBD1 connector; from OBD2 generation onwards, Daily diagnostics run through the standard 16-pin port.
Systems such as EDC 16 C39, the BC body computer, ABS8/ASR8/ESP8, the Airbag control unit and the ECAS air suspension on later Daily generations are not accessible with this adapter.
Requires a Jaltest Link with valid CV license; the cable does not provide coverage on its own.

Applications and Functions

Using this connection, you can access the control unit present on this Daily generation with Jaltest software. Coverage is more limited compared to later OBD2 models.

Control Units You Can Access

  • ABS 5.3, Antilock braking system: The braking system that Jaltest supports on the Turbodaily generation.

What You Can Do

  • Read and clear fault codes: Read the fault memory of the control unit, including descriptions of detected faults.
  • View live data: Monitor current sensor values connected to the control unit in numerical and graphical format.
  • Activate components: Directly trigger components to determine whether the fault lies with the part itself or in the wiring.
  • Configure parameters: Write configurations and settings to the control unit.
  • Perform resets: Clear counters and messages after a repair.
  • Monitor real-time data: Read live measurements during a test drive or diagnostic run.

Compatible Vehicles and Applications

The connector type determines compatibility, not the model. This adapter fits any Iveco Daily with the 38-pin diagnostic connector from before the OBD2 era. Jaltest covers the generations listed below; check which connector is installed in your vehicle's dashboard.

Iveco Daily:

  • Daily (2nd generation, facelift): (approx. 1996 - 1999)
  • Daily III (3rd generation): (approx. 1999 - 2004)
💡
Good to know: The 38-pin connector is located in the dashboard on the passenger side, behind the plastic panel. For diesel vans, the 16-pin EOBD connection only became mandatory from January 1, 2004 onwards, so around that transition period you'll find both connectors on vehicles. Therefore, check which connector your vehicle has before placing your order.
