The Jaltest JDC612A is the diagnostic cable for Yanmar inboard engines; it connects the 3-pin connector to the 16-pin OBD2 port of your Jaltest diagnostic interface. On the engine side sits the 3-pin connector, on the interface side the 16-pin OBD2 plug of the Jaltest Link. The connector is located in the engine compartment, on or next to the engine; for industrial engines, Yanmar uses a 6-pin configuration.
Through this connection, your diagnostic equipment gains access to the engine control unit and onboard control panels: The EDC Yanmar Bosch, the EDC Yanmar Generic, the ECM from the BY-series and others, and the control panels VC10 and VC20. The Bosch engine control unit offers the most comprehensive coverage, including component control and parameters; the panels provide parameters, calibration and reset, but no fault codes or live data. The cable falls under Jaltest Marine.

Through this connection, you can access the control units of your Yanmar engine and control panel using Jaltest software.
Control units you can access
- EDC Yanmar Bosch — engine control: The Bosch Engine Control Module with the most comprehensive feature set of the four: fault codes, live data, sensor readings, component actuation, ECU information, parameters and real-time monitoring.
- EDC Yanmar Generic — engine control: Fault codes, sensor readings, ECU information and live data.
- ECM — engine control: The control unit found on the BY series and others, with fault codes, sensor readings, ECU information and live data.
- VC10 and VC20 — control panel: The panel's electronic module, with ECU information, parameters, calibration and reset functions, but no fault code reading.
What you can do
- Read fault codes: Access the engine control unit's fault memory and view detailed descriptions of detected faults.
- View sensor readings and monitor live data: Track real-time sensor values from the engine control unit while the engine is running.
- Actuate components: With the EDC Yanmar Bosch, you can directly control actuators.
- Parameters, calibration and reset: Parameters are available on the Bosch engine control and panels; calibration and reset functions are limited to VC10 and VC20 panels.
Compatible vehicles and applications
The connector type determines compatibility, not the engine model. This cable works with any Yanmar inboard engine equipped with the 3-pin diagnostic connector. Jaltest Marine covers the series listed below; check your engine's connector type on site.
