The Jaltest JDC205A is the diagnostic cable for the 11-pin OBD1 connector on Renault Trucks; it adapts that connection to the 16-pin OBD2 port on your Jaltest diagnostic equipment. On the vehicle side, you'll find the 11-pin connector located in the cab, while the interface side features the 16-pin OBD2 plug for your Jaltest diagnostic cable. The Magnum, Premium, Kerax and Midlum models without DXi engines all use the same connector.
Through this adapter, your diagnostic equipment connects to the vehicle network and gains access to the engine control units DCI Euro 2 / DCI Euro 3 and ITC, the central control module VECU Euro 2 / VECU Euro 3, the transmissions AS Tronic, TBV and WTEC III Allison, the braking and suspension systems EBS 2.1/2.2, the ABS variants and ECAS air suspension, plus the ZF Intarder, the instrument cluster INS Euro 3, the maintenance system Diagmax and the body control module BBM. Which of these are present depends on the model, engine and year of manufacture. From Euro IV onwards (October 2005) and with the introduction of DXi engines, Renault switched to the 16-pin OBD2 connector: if your truck is Euro 4 or newer, you won't need this cable. This cable falls under Jaltest CV (commercial vehicles).

Using this connection, you access the truck's control units with Jaltest software. The units listed below are from Renault Trucks coverage; which ones are available depends on the model, engine, and year of manufacture.

- DCI Euro 2 / DCI Euro 3, Electronic Diesel Control, Common Rail: The common-rail engine control.
- ITC, Injection timing electronic control: Electronic control of injection timing on older engines.
- VECU Euro 2 / VECU Euro 3, Vehicle Electronic Control Unit: The central vehicle control unit.
- AS Tronic, Gearbox with electronic control (with a separate input for transmission parameters), TBV, Gearbox management system and WTEC III Allison: The transmission control systems.
- EBS 2.1 / EBS 2.2 / EBS and the ABS-versions (ABS 24/EU12, ABS 2X, ABS I8, ABS/ASR C, D/E, E): The braking and brake management systems.
- ZF Intarder, Retarder: The auxiliary brake control.
- ECAS 001 / 020/027 / 044/403 / 303/304/311/312, Electronically Controlled Air Suspension: The electronically controlled air suspension.
- INS Euro 3, Instrument cluster and Diagmax, Maintenance system: Instrument panel and maintenance system.
- BBM, Bodywork Module: The bodywork module for vehicle body functions.
What you can do
- Read and clear fault codes: Read the fault memory of the control unit, including descriptions of detected faults.
- View live data: The current sensor values connected to the control unit, displayed as numbers and graphs.
- Activate components: Directly trigger components to determine whether the fault is in the component itself or in the wiring.
- Configure parameters: Write configurations and settings to the control unit.
- Perform calibrations: For systems where Jaltest offers a calibration procedure, such as after replacing a component.
- Maintenance reset: Reset the service indicator through the vehicle's maintenance system.
Compatible vehicles and applications
The connector type determines compatibility, not the model.This cable works with any Renault truck equipped with the 11-pin diagnostic connector. Jaltest covers the series listed below for non-DXi versions prior to Euro IV; check which connector is installed in your cab on-site.
