The Launch X-431 Pro3 Apex is an advanced and powerful OE-level diagnostic solution, specially developed for modern and universal workshops working on a wide range of vehicle brands. As the successor to the successful X-431 V4.0, this Apex version features improved hardware and faster software, combining in-depth system diagnosis, online coding, and more than 30 maintenance functions in one robust platform. The heart of the system is a fast 10.1-inch Full HD touchscreen tablet with the stable Android 10 operating system, enabling technicians to work efficiently on troubleshooting, system adjustments, and advanced vehicle settings.

Wireless communication takes place via the new Launch DBScar VII VCI, a compact and powerful interface compatible with the latest communication protocols such as CAN-FD and DoIP. This guarantees a stable and fast connection with the most modern vehicles on the market. The Pro3 Apex comes standard with two years of free software updates, including access to a rapidly growing vehicle coverage of more than 110 brands worldwide. After this period, the system continues to function fully with the last installed software, but an annual license is required to receive updates and use online features.


Diagnostic functions:

The Launch X-431 Pro3 Apex offers extensive diagnostic capabilities at OE level, suitable for professional fault analysis, system communication control, and live monitoring of vehicle data.

  • Complete system diagnosis (OE-Level): Provides access to all electronic control units of the vehicle, such as engine, transmission, ABS, airbag (SRS), body control module (BCM), air conditioning, steering, instrument panel, and more. Supports reading and clearing fault codes with detailed descriptions.
  • Intelligent topology mapping: Visualizes the complete network of ECUs in an interactive module map. Communication status is clearly displayed with color coding, allowing faults in, for example, the CAN bus to be quickly and precisely located.
  • Active tests (bidirectional control): Sends commands to actuators, relays, and components to test their operation without disassembly. Examples include controlling the fuel pump, activating the air conditioning clutch, or testing the windshield wiper motor.
  • Live datastream: Displays real-time sensor data from modules in text format, graphical view, or as analog meters. Supports simultaneous display of multiple data streams for thorough system comparison and troubleshooting.
  • AutoVIN: Automatically recognizes the vehicle via the chassis number (VIN) and automatically selects the correct brand, model, and year of manufacture. This saves time and prevents errors in manual selection.

Maintenance and service functions:

The Launch X-431 Pro3 Apex supports more than 40 maintenance and reset functions that allow vehicle systems to be calibrated, reset, or reconfigured after maintenance or replacement of parts. Suitable for universal workshops and dealer-level maintenance.

  • Oil service reset (Service): Resets the maintenance interval and turns off the service light after oil change.
  • Electronic parking brake (EPB): Releases, applies, and initializes the electronic handbrake for safe brake maintenance.
  • Battery management system (BMS): Registers a new Battery and restores the vehicle's charging strategy.
  • Steering angle sensor (SAS): Calibrates the steering angle sensor after alignment or replacement of steering components.
  • Diesel particulate filter (DPF): Starts a forced regeneration of the soot filter and clears related fault codes.
  • Bleed ABS pump (ABS): Removes air from the ABS system via electronic control of the pump and valves.
  • Reset tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS): Learns new sensors or resets existing sensors in the tire pressure monitoring system.
  • Throttle body initialization (ETC): Calibrates the electronic throttle after cleaning or replacement.
  • Injector coding: Programs the correct identification codes of new injectors into the ECU.
  • Transmission adaptation (CVT/AT): Resets learning values of automatic transmissions for improved shifting behavior.
  • Crankshaft sensor learning (TEC): Relearns the crankshaft position after sensor or ECU replacement.
  • Reset AdBlue system: Resets urea level and fault codes after refilling or system maintenance.
  • Air suspension calibration: Calibrates ride height on vehicles with electronic or adaptive air suspension.
  • Headlight adjustment (AFS): Calibrates adaptive or steering headlights after replacement or realignment.
  • Initialize windows and roof: Restores automatic functions of electric windows and sunroofs.
  • Start/stop settings: (De)activates the automatic start/stop system via software adjustment.
  • Seat occupancy sensor (SRS): Calibrates passenger detection for correct airbag activation.
  • Activate/deactivate transport mode: Put the vehicle in or out of transport mode during delivery or storage.
  • Change system language: Changes the language settings of the vehicle display or infotainment system.
  • Air/fuel ratio reset (A/F): Restores adaptive values for mixture control after sensor replacement or adjustment.

Programming and coding functions:

The Launch X-431 Pro3 Apex offers powerful coding capabilities for customizing, configuring, and learning vehicle modules. This allows technicians to optimize vehicle systems or correctly activate new components according to OE specifications.

  • Advanced ECU coding: Offers the ability to recode electronic control units, correctly configure new modules, and activate hidden functions, such as start/stop deactivation, coming-home lighting, or automatic mirror folding.
  • Online coding: Supports direct connection to the factory servers of, among others, Volkswagen, Audi, BMW and Porsche, where coding data is automatically loaded for the most accurate module configuration.
  • Guided functions (VAG): For vehicles of the Volkswagen Group (VW, Audi, Seat, Skoda), the system offers step-by-step instructions for complex tasks such as key coding, steering module replacement, or ABS reprogramming, minimizing the chance of errors.
  • Important limitation: The Pro3 Apex does not support full ECU programming (flashing) with the standard DBScar VII VCI. For J2534 Pass-Thru ECU programming via OEM software, the optional Launch SmartLink C VCI is required.

Cloud and reporting features:

The Launch X-431 Pro3 Apex supports powerful cloud and reporting tools for efficient workshop management, customer communication, and documentation of performed diagnostics.

  • Cloud storage & management: All diagnostic reports are automatically saved in the Launch Cloud, so they can be centrally managed, securely backed up, and accessed at any time from multiple devices.
  • Professional reports: Generates clear pre-scan and post-scan reports, which can be personalized with workshop logo, customer information, and comments. Ideal for transparent communication with customers and for insurance reporting.
  • Easy sharing and printing: Reports can be shared directly from the tablet via email or wirelessly printed via Wi-Fi, without the need for a PC or additional software.

Additional features and special capabilities:

The Launch X-431 Pro3 Apex is designed as a powerful and future-proof diagnostic platform, equipped with technologies and features that go far beyond standard fault code readers. The system supports modern vehicle protocols, authorized access to secured vehicle systems, and an efficient workshop workflow.

  • Support for modern vehicle protocols: The DBScar VII VCI is fully compatible with the latest protocols such as CAN-FD (required for recent models from, among others, GM and Ford) and DoIP (required for brands like BMW, Volvo and Land Rover). These protocols ensure fast communication and stable programming on vehicles with complex networks.
  • FCA Secure Gateway (SGW) access: Provides authorized access to secured vehicle systems of Fiat, Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge and Alfa Romeo. This allows not only fault code reading but also active tests, coding, and maintenance functions (requires a AutoAuth account).
  • Professional workshop workflow: The software supports an efficient and transparent working method including:
    • Pre- & post-scan reports: Generate comprehensive system reports before and after repair, essential for customer transparency and insurance documentation.
    • Diagnostic feedback: Send a fault analysis or diagnostic report to Launch technical support with one click, for quick assistance with unusual or complex cases.
  • Expandable diagnostic platform: The Pro3 Apex acts as the heart of a modular ecosystem. Easily extend functionality with ADAS calibration kits, TPMS tools, Heavy Duty (24V) truck diagnostics, and more — a sustainable investment that grows with your workshop needs.

The Launch X-431 Pro3 Apex is modularly expandable and compatible with a wide range of Launch accessories, transforming the system into a full-fledged platform for specialized applications.

  • ADAS calibration: Compatible with Launch’s ADAS calibration frames (mobile and PRO) for precise adjustment of driver assistance systems such as lane assist, adaptive cruise control, blind spot detection and front cameras.
  • Key programming: Supports pairing with the Launch X-PROG 3, an advanced IMMO tool for key coding, immobilizer functions and data reading for e.g. BMW, VAG and Mercedes.

After the first year, the license can be renewed for an annual fee. The Diagnostic Tool remains fully functional for already supported models, even without license renewal. However, new software updates can no longer be installed, and some online features may be limited or no longer supported
